Language Arts is a rather broad term taking in everything from teaching a child to read and spell to writing neatly to writing an advanced level essay. Much to do and so little time to do it in! Parents often feel that they are weak in teaching this area especially in the creative writing department since there is no "right or wrong answer." I encourage you to keep at it. Little by little your children will learn to read, spell and write. If the program you are using isn't working for you talk with others to see what they are using. Don't use something year after year if you really are not satisfied with it. If you would really like a program but it is too expensive to buy alone, consider buying it with one or two other families. Often we don't need all of it in the house all the time and sharing can work quite well. And don't forget to read to your children. Daily reading of material above their own reading level will help increase vocabulary as well as build sentence structure and thought flow! It's easy and it's rewarding.
